Jubilee film

Martin Pailthorpe and Anthea Sanders have been working on a project to collect people's memories from the Coronation in 1953.  there are some fantastic stories from Kingsnympton and further afield. We will be showing the result in the Parish Hall in the afternoon of June 5th. It's a great story that reflects how the country celebrated, so make sure you don't miss it!!

Photo competition

Well, not a competition as such - we are looking for submissions on the theme of the Jubilee, for a record of how we celebrated, and to create a slideshow which will be shown in the church during the Open Gardens weekend at the end of June. There will be lots of events going on, and we want to reflect everything! Simply post your pictures to the Community Facebook Group and we will select the ones that best tell the story!

There are a few pictures from previous Jubilees alongside, and more in the galleries below!
For the Diamond Jubilee in 2012 we had a huge tea in the Parish Hall...
...followed by a Hog Roast, Beacon Lighting and  Jazz Band in the evening
(complete with champagne and cake)
In 2002, we celebrated the Golden Jubilee with a party in the Square
1977 Silver Jubilee - party in the Square

And we're pretty sure that this party in the Square must have been in 1953, for the Coronation  itself.
Everyone is in their Sunday Best (including John Rainger, on the left - can anyone identify any of the other people in the picture?) and there is a picture of the Queen in the window on the right that is similar to the one published in newspapers across the country to celebrate the day.
