KN POP UP CAFÉ HUB
Saturday 22 January 2022
9am – 4.30pm in the Hall Committee Room
We invite you to the KN Pop Up Café Hub, a taster to see if there is an
appetite in the village for a more permanent drop-in community facility
offering a place to meet over fresh coffee, teas, delicious cakes and light
meals in a comfortable and relaxed environment
We are looking for volunteers to help run this event and also to join a
committee to take forward plans for a permanent hub if the Pop Up
proves successful. If interested please contact Lorraine Pailthorpe
We look forward to seeing you there
The idea of creating a space for people in the village and beyond to meet over a great coffee and a slice of cake or a light meal has been gathering pace for some time - we want to make 2022 the year that it takes shape.
The long term aim is to identify a space that can provide a full-time home, but that's going to take considerable time, effort and funding.
So in the short term we are planning a pop-up café in the existing village hall committee room to showcase a few of our ideas, to find out what yours are, and to see what demand there might be.
how you can help
1/ By volunteering - for the pop-up hub we need help
in advance setting the committee room up as a welcoming space, in the kitchen prepping food and preparing drinks, as well as
front of house help setting up and clearing tables. We also need a few people to make cakes/biscuits for sale - payment available to cover ingredients!
2/ Kit - the village hall has a well equipped kitchen, but we want to go a step further. We are looking for things like (portable!!) barista coffee machines and/or milk frothers, panini grills, smoothie blenders and anything you think might be useful that we haven't thought about!
3/ Going forward - depending on the success of the pop-up, we will be looking for a way of creating a permanent home for the hub. We will be looking for people to join a committee to fund raise and help identify funding sources, to liaise with planners, designers and service providers, and to help design a space that will be welcoming to all. Assuming we are successful, the committee would run the hub by managing the daily business, promoting it within the village and beyond, and co-ordinating with volunteers to keep it staffed.
